9/9/11 From Monday 12th September the White Tees are available for competition play only. No practice is allowed from these tees until it is announced next Spring/Summer. The use of medal tees for "bounce games" is something we try to introduce each year if the tees are of a condition to take the extra traffic. By removing this courtesy now it allows the tees time to recover for next season.

28/07/2011 There have been a few complaints about slow play during medal rounds recently. We have all been frustrated at some time by slow play, let’s work together to speed things up. All players should strive to play a medal round in under four hours. The following basic steps should be followed by all golfers.

Play at a good pace and keep up with the game in front. If you lose a ball and it is obvious that it will not be found easily, signal the group behind to play through, do not wait the five minutes before doing so. When you hit a ball and you believe it may be lost, immediately play a provisional ball, this could save you going back to the tee. Be prepared and ready to play when it is your turn. When approaching a green, leave your bag in the direction of the next tee. Fill in scorecards at next tee not greenside. We are all responsible in keeping things moving please play your part.

27/07/2011 Well done to all who have qualified for the Gents’ Club Championship or Handicap Plate competitions (full lists on Gents noticeboard) on Saturday 20th August. These are very important events in the clubs calendar. If you have qualified and cannot play on the day, please notify the Match Committee as soon as possible, this gives another member the opportunity to compete.

25/07/2011 We have had our third accident, by stray golf balls, in as many weeks on the course. The first two incidents involved members failing to give a clear shout of “fore” when hitting a ball off line. In the third incident, yesterday, a clear shout was made giving a junior member the chance to protect himself. This resulted in a very sore hand instead of a potentially serious head wound. Don’t leave it to chance, if you lose sight of your ball in the air you should always shout “fore”, you might prevent a life-threatening injury.

21/03/2011 The Gent`s season opening Am – Am was held on Saturday 19th March. Winning team with a combined Net score of 125 were D.McKenzie, D.Rooney, A.Gibb and new member S.Michie, well done! Would members please note ALL competition cards must be returned via the appropriate slot adjacent to the computer terminal and NOT in the slot marked “For Handicap” at the Match Office.
