Our course always invokes compliments from the many who have played here. It may not be the longest, or the hardest, but you will remember the course and quite a few of the holes with no hidden dangers. It could be described as a rolling countryside parkland style with a few undulations offering enough ups and downs to give you a significant golfing challenge. The first six holes are mostly into the prevailing wind, so if you are playing to your handicap by the time you stand on the 7th, you are doing pretty well. The next few holes give you some respite from the ever present burns but these are the holes with the undulations. Once you have cleared the middle part then comes the monster 15th and a par there, warms your heart.
The last three holes are lined with mature trees and these often give you some shelter from that haunting Scottish wind. The best feeling in the world on a glorious summers day is standing at the top of the hill on the 18th fairway, looking down to the cleverly guarded green, needing a par to break your handicap. Better still, to beat your pal.
